Attitudes are habits of thoughts.

We have asked many decision-makers this one question: “If there was one thing that would make your organization more productive what would that be?

Pretty much everyone came out with one-word ATTITUDE. They said if our people have a better attitude we would have better teamwork, quality, and our bottom line would go up.

How come under the same set of circumstances some people break records and others break themselves.

“IT IS NOT OUR POSITION BUT OUR DISPOSITION THAT DETERMINE SUCCESS.” And what is disposition: OUR ATTITUDE

Vision

Vision is the ability to see the invisible. If you can see the invisible you can achieve the impossible.

It is not problem-solving but preempting and preventing.

Values

Our credibility determines our profitability.

Profitability is not only money but goodwill too. But profitability is not the reason why we practice values. We practice because we believe in them. It means there are things in life we would do or not do even if no one is watching and even if we knew we would not get caught, we would still not do it.

When we talk of values, whose values are we talking about?

We are talking about universal and eternal values.

Universal means cross-country, cross-culture, cross-religion

Eternal means they were here before we came and they will be here even after we are gone.

Success

Success is a matter of Laws and not Luck.

Everyone wants to climb the ladder to success only to find that the ladder is leaning against the wrong building.

There are customer service and selling skill programs that teach, ‘How to shake hands, say thank you, please and smile’. The big question comes how long can we keep a fake smile. Besides people can see through people, can’t they? If the smile is not sincere it is irritating, isn’t it? That means we need to have substance over form not form over substance.

Motivation

Optimize performance by motivating yourself and others.

Unlike most professionals who keep telling others, “What to do?”, we take a different approach. Our approach is “Why don’t you?” Because we believe most people
already know what to do. If you ask a person on the street they will give you all the right answers, ask them, “are they doing it?” Probably not!

What’s missing is, MOTIVATION; the big question is, can we motivate people?

Absolutely not!

But what we can do is we can inspire people to motivate themselves but we cannot motivate them. The reason, inspiration is thinking whereas motivation is action. I cannot act for you; you have to act for yourselves. But when thinking changes it starts reflecting in behavior, doesn’t it? Which is more lasting, and that’s what people are looking for. Aren’t they?

It raises two major questions :

1. Why do people get de-motivated?

2. Who motivates the motivator?

Communication

Communicating with clarity and confidence.

Most people are not able to communicate not because they lack knowledge, but because they lack confidence.

I.T. certainly has increased the speed of communication no doubt, but unless people know what to and how to communicate, they will only miscommunicate faster, won’t they? Guess what is the cost of miscommunication faster? It is horrendous.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem is the way we feel about ourselves. When we feel good the world looks nice, productivity goes up and relationships are a lot better. Aren’t they? The reverse is just as true. Self-esteem is inversely related to egos.

Have you seen people with egos like, I know it all?

What do they do?

They look down upon others. Don’t they? They talk down to others. Don’t they? Every decision they make is more to satisfy ego than make sense.

The question is, why does a human being put down another human being? It is sad but true there are some people in this world who feel good when the other person feels bad. They feel superior when the other person feels inferior. It is sadistic behavior but happens. Doesn’t it? Which means they don’t want to lift themselves up but want to put others down.

There is another kind of ego which is ‘FRAGILE EGO’, – where anything you say, I take it personally and get hurt. What do both these egos do to teamwork? – DESTROY IT.

Interpersonal Skills

Why do people deal with us? Not because we are the smartest people but because they feel comfortable dealing with us.

What gives them the feeling of comfort?

People don’t care how much you know they want to know how much you care.

Why do we go to a doctor 10 miles away bypassing 10 other doctors on the way? Is he the most qualified, probably not!

Why do you get your car repaired from a mechanic 10 miles away bypassing 10 others on the way? Is he the most qualified, probably not!

But something says I am dealing with the right person. What is that something? It is the trust factor. Trust in many ways is a much greater compliment in life than love. There are people we love but we cannot trust.

Goal Setting

In the game of football, if the referee removes the goalposts from both sides, what is left of the game? Nothing! How do you keep score?

Unless people have individual goals, how can they tie-up with corporate goals? We believe in a holistic approach to goal setting which means people take family problems to work and bring work problems to the family. Don’t they?

Leadership

There are no neutral leaders. There are either good leaders or bad leaders.

• Good leaders actively guide, bad leaders actively misguide.
• Good leaders motivate people, bad leaders manipulate them.
• Good leaders support their team, bad leaders control them.

Good leaders look to create more leaders, bad leaders look to create followers. Why? Because they feel insecure.
